River LA is proud to announce that the first recipient of its Micro Grant program is the Women's Center for Creative Work (WCCW) located in Frogtown, just a few quick blocks south on the LA River Bike Path from our Newell Street Rio Vista. Founded in 2013, the Women’s Center for Creative Work, or WCCW, is a not-for-profit organization that cultivates LA’s feminist creative communities and practices.
Our Rio Vistas Micro Grant will be supporting a free and open-to-the-public "Feminist Birding Workshop" on Sunday, October 16th from 10am to 1pm. Bring your binoculars, notebooks, and cameras to this active workshop exploring the feminist origins of popular birding and the impact of birding, in turn, on how we civically engage to enact change. To RSVP visit the event page on Facebook. Congratulations to our partners at WCCW for bringing this engaging topic and interactive program to the River!
Stay tuned for more information about future Rio Vistas Micro Grant awardees. We have some exciting programs lined up for the year ahead.
