River Advocates Program - River LA

River Advocates Program

Become a grassroots River Advocate in your community!

River LA is building a powerful grassroots movement of neighborhood leaders by launching a River Advocates Training Program.

The River LA  Advocates Program will advance a healthy, vibrant, and resilient region for everyone by empowering volunteers with the tools to make their voices heard and ensure their community’s perspective is part of a larger conversation about the future of the Los Angeles River. Each neighborhood team of River Advocates are volunteers who care about their neighborhoods and want to make a difference by being the change they want to see. We are recruiting talented youth, engaged parents and concerned residents like you to join our team and build community through organizing, advocacy and education.

Now is the time for us to come together and advocate for a river that is truly a resource for everyone. Join us in connecting our diverse communities with a re-imagined river rich with welcoming gathering spaces, natural habitat restoration, and sustainable water solutions. The goal of the River Advocates Program is to cultivate a new generation of advocates for the Los Angeles River to ensure we have a reliable water supply along and a healthy and vibrant region for generations to come.

Program Overview

River Advocates will learn about water policy, river ecology, natural history as well as grassroots organizing from experts in the field through trainings that highlight the Los Angeles River. With this background, River Advocates will facilitate community participation that ensures everyone  keeps the community’s perspective front and center when working on issues affecting the future of the Los Angeles River.
