Let's Run the LA River

Last Thursday we hosted our fifth LA River Night Run, a family friendly event designed to activate the LA River greenway as a safe and vibrant social space after dark. Since it's inception last fall, we've had over 700 people come out to exercise, eat tacos and roast s'mores along the river.

In addition to the fun and revelry at the post run party, participants got to experience the serenity that is the LA River after the sun goes down. This last run was held at a 19 acre post industrial lot along a beautiful soft bottom section of the LA River in NELA.

In recent years, the property has become known as The Bowtie Project, a collaboration between Clockshop and CA State Parks to activate the previously unused lot. It is one of our favorite places on the LA River.

The night runs are a part of our larger community engagement strategy to reclaim the river as a space for active recreation and as an asset for public health. There's no better way to understand the unique sense of place along the LA River than experiencing first hand with your family, your friends and your own two feet.

Of course, events like these are only as good as their participants. A big thanks to both our supporters and fabulous partners- Race Organizer Extraordinaire Rob Rice, CA State Parks, Golden Road Brewing, Fleet Feet Sports and Amp Radio for helping us make people fall in love with LA River one mile at a time.
