Atlas Obscura Society Los Angeles: L.A. River Adventure

Join Field Agent Benjamin Harmon and L.A. River experts Lila Higgins and Kat Superfisky as we explore the hidden wonders of the L.A. River—from pocket parks and a secret love-lock bridge to Leo Limon’s graffiti river cats and hidden heron murals.

Bound in concrete, it is easy to understand how many people disregard the L.A. River and shrug it off. Despite harsh judgments, the river is brimming with plant life and critters galore, not to mention fascinating history. During this tour, we'll learn about the river’s tumultuous past, talk about changes in the community, and explore issues facing the people and wildlife that call the river home. In a constantly evolving city like L.A., what does the future hold for this amazing body of water?
