LA Food Bowl Partnership with CicLAvia

Recently, we shared a video of our A Seat at the Table event on the LA River. At this picnic, we led a guided conversation with community members and river leaders on the river. It was a huge success and we are thrilled to announce our next opportunity for you to join the conversation at one of these events!

On May 12th, we’re partnering with CicLAvia for an inspiring bike tour and picnic along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Los Angeles River. We’ll take a leisurely 5 mile round trip ride down the car-free Elysian Valley Bike Path.

CicLAvia opens streets to bikers, pedestrians, and anyone in between. River LA in partnership with CicLAvia is hoping to help reintroduce the region to one of its great resources: The LA River. A collaboration between these organization was a natural opportunity for us and we are excited to create this ride along the LA River as a signature event of the LA Times Food Bowl.

At this event, we’ll make a few stops along the way to share some of the opportunities and challenges that face the Los Angeles River. Upon returning to Marsh Park, participants will take a seat at a picnic table filled with local cuisine from a collection of restaurants near the LA River (Arts District Brewery, Tony's Darts Away, La Colombe, Dune, Spoke Bicycle Cafe, Proof Bakery, and more TBA) and join a conversation about the space and what it might become as a point of civic pride and community empowerment.

Join us to celebrate local cuisine and get to know our great city a little better.
