Mission & Vision
Bringing the History, Culture and the Environment of Southern California to life.
We intend to create a 21st Century visitor experience in-between a history museum and an immersive experience space
A traditional History Museum
- Educational mission
- Objects on walls with text descriptions
- Very limited interactivity
- Limited languages - Appeals to older visitors
- Relatively low attendance
- Run by academic curators
- Large staff, costly insurance, costly storage
- Requires many months/years to mount new shows
- Requires constant fund-raising to support
The LA Experience
- Entertainment & Education Mission
- Storytelling with videos, narration and text
- Multiple languages and some geographical customization
- Appeals to all ages
- High attendance
- Run by producers
- Modest staff, but on-going technology costs and modest content creation
- Able to create new content rapidly
- Able to expand content into the Park
- Should be break-even or better
An Immersive Experience
- Entertainment, for-profit mission
- videos with music
- Limited interactivity.
- No customization for languages and geography
- Appeals to all ages
- High attendance
- Run by producers
- Small staff, but on-going technology costs and expensive content creation
- Requires months to create new experiences
- Designed to be profitable
To help guide the mission of the institution, we have developed a set of “NORTH STARS”
